GARDEN TOUR

Spring Harvest in progress with not a whole lot of spare time on our hands. If we are not in the garden, we’ve got many other brands in the fire to keep us busy. So not much blogging is happening around here even though I have around 5 postings

Sunshine, Wind, Laundry and Deer!!

Today has been one gorgeous day. Not a cloud in the sky as seen in the above photo. It got into the low 80′s. I ended up outside because it was just to nice to stay completely inside laying low as I mend a pulled / strained inflamed back muscle, which is showing

Balmy Gardening Weather turns into Spring Snowstorm!

This past Thursday March 18th we woke up to a gorgeous sunny day. I set out to get a few things inside done first before heading outside.
Laundry washing, dishwasher running and I popped my 2 large cast iron dutch ovens into the oven. Oven needed a desperate cleaning anyhow so with my intent to

Gardening Forecast & Nutrimill - Update:

It’s looking like a possible last one – two punch  of winter here this weekend after such a beautiful warm up and the earliest garden planting we’ve ever had. Lots of rain followed the planting of the onions and peas. Peas are showing signs of germination and ready to poke their little heads

Spring Planting - First 2 Days:

After one of the worst winters we’ve seen, this past Friday March the 5th is the earliest we have ever done any gardening. If this warm weather continues come St. Patty’s we will be planting seed potatoes; dubbed the traditional potato planting day for our area for years.
If the new garden plot north

Carrot Seeder - Drawing & Instructions:

It’s planting time and those itty bitty carrot seeds that are grayish and are not all that much fun to plant can be planted easier now with the Carrot Seed Planter my hubby designed and made for us last summer. Planting the seeds evenly at 1 1/2 inch intervals.

He drew

This past Friday March 5th we started our 2010 organic garden. This afternoon I went out to tend to the onions we had put in. My husband is out in the shop doing some minor tinkering on the roto tiller, then heading out to the garden shortly to start going over more ground

Preparing for additional Gardens:

Fall like temps have settled in for a while. It’s been gorgeous and nice to enjoy the beautiful weather the Lord has given. With this we’ve begun a lot of Fall yard work in between rains. Keeping up with the grass has been a challenge with the rains. I almost feel like we

We are back home after a weeks vacation. After a lot of garden work and preserving produce right up to leaving, we are back in the garden in full force. I picked a wheel barrel full of tomatoes / green peppers / colander full of sweet 100 & yellow pear cherry tomatoes and 3 small

Meet you at the End of the Garden Path!

This is our garden earlier this summer bursting forth
with greenery when there was very little in weeds to pull.

Ahh, to have those days back of very few weeds.
They are days long gone by now.

July was not it’s normal HOT. It was warm and rainy. Rains that were

Garden Harvesting has begun!

I can say one thing for sure, life isn’t dull around here since I decided we needed to get back into full time gardening. I think I am in a state of “TIRED” all the time. If I’m not roto tilling, pulling weeds, spraying the garden with my hot pepper mixture

The weather last evening took a sudden drastic change from a day working out in the garden and mowing for around 4 hours or more in the sunshine. It was a hot day yet bearable in the humidity since we are without air conditioning for now and find ourselve’s handling the heat rather

Early mornings in the HEAT........

The past couple of days we’ve been getting up at 5 a.m. to work in the garden as much as we can before the heat hits. It’s actually already hot that early but nothing compared to what hits later. This morning we got up early but not quite that early. We didn’t bother to set
