ANOTHER Reposting……[ first posted June 5th, 2009 ] brought this one up in light of a great posting over at Just Making Noise “The dirty secrets of Processed Cereals”.

After having seen this video on cereals and how it applies to other processed fortified foods, and having seen the movie Food Inc.. I look at the foods on the grocery store shelves, meat departments all differently. To tell you the truth I really feel we can’t even trust the so called Organic breakfast cereals sold.
Time to start cleaning out your cupboards even more if you haven’t already and your considering changing your eating habits 100% and move to a Nutrient Dense Food Eating Style that truely is healthy eating the Nourishing Traditions way.

The findings in the video definitely are not in the camp of Eating Real Foods. And these findings…don’t just mean cereals, it also includes pasta’s, breads and anything else out there that has been tampered with to enrich it.
Is there anything on the store shelves anymore that really is good for us? The video is an eye opener. I have always wondered what they meant by Enriched. What actually is it they do to enrich the food. Obviously they are enriching it because it already is a depleted food source, so they do it to make it healthier for us.….so we’ve thought.

Wow, yet another reason NOT to eat processed cereal!
Don’t eat cereal…I’m allergic to corn, oats, and wheat…gluten actually…so grains are not an issue around here…mostly eat brown rice!!! But I am not a bit surprised by this!!! Another great post, Pam…I always learn so much here!!! Love you!!! Janine XO
Sounds to me like Janine needs some sweetening up….I’m going to be posting soon a gluten free / lactose free Sweet Potato Pie recipe my hubby found online. New crust recipe that is flaky and the filling is amazing.
